Why this low temperature chest freezer earns its place
The Elcold EL31LT is a low-temperature chest freezer for kitchens and back-of-house stores that need to hold stock far colder than a standard freezer. With 300 litres of gross and net capacity behind a solid lid, it takes bulk frozen and ultra-cold inventory off the floor and keeps it at a steady deep-freeze temperature. The top-opening chest format suits sites where the floor space is available and stock is loaded and rotated by hand.
The freezer works across a -45 to -10 °C band, giving headroom well below what standard frozen storage needs, for products that require a harder freeze. Defrost is manual, so build a periodic defrost into the cleaning rota. It runs at 49 dB, quiet enough for a working kitchen, and carries a climate class 4 rating so it holds temperature in warm back-of-house ambients. Energy class C at an EEI of 31.1% works out to about £139 a year at 25p/kWh.
The cabinet measures 1305 × 650 × 865 mm (W×D×H) and weighs 67 kg empty, so check the delivery route and final siting against that footprint. It connects to a standard 13 A supply on 220-240 V and draws 380 W, with no drain to plumb. Cooling uses R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant with an 81 g charge. The exterior is white with a white painted steel interior.
