Why this fridge room earns its place
The DS481-CWH is a walk-in cold room from Polar's U-Series, built to give a busy kitchen a dedicated space for chilled stock at +2 to +5°C instead of a row of upright fridges taking up prep space. At 1.5 × 1.2m footprint with 2,843 litres capacity, it suits back-of-house corners, cellars and prep areas where floor space is tight but chilled capacity has to grow with the operation. Internal working space is 2,037 × 1,280 × 980mm—room enough for trolleys, shelving and date-rotation work.
Because it is an integral unit, the R449A cooling with 80mm insulation is built into the room itself—there is no separate condensing unit to site elsewhere. It arrives as a single, self-contained cold-storage solution you power up and load. The integral design keeps installation footprint and complexity down. Walk-in access lets staff wheel in trolleys, rotate stock by date and pick orders without unstacking, which keeps a chilled section organised through service.
Plan the install around the 1.5 × 1.2m footprint and the route to the room's final position. The room weighs 350kg empty and needs a level floor able to take that weight, plus clearance around the plant for airflow and provision for defrost drainage. It is finished in white and built from modular insulated panels on site. The room comes with a 2-year parts and labour warranty plus a 5-year panel guarantee.
