Why this supermarket freezer earns its place
The MTF250B VS is a large wall-site display cabinet in a black finish with a white painted-steel interior, built to line a retail wall with a big, glazed run of stock. Four self-closing heated glass doors front 1.36 m² of display area, with 1076 litres of gross volume and 650 litres of net capacity for a high-volume line-up. It is a cabinet for sites that need a lot of glazed display in a single wall position.
Day to day it runs on ventilated cooling for even temperature across the width, with automatic defrost and an electronic controller keeping the routine hands-off. The heated glass doors resist condensation on the glazing so the display stays clear, and being self-closing they swing shut after a customer reach, which protects both the hold and the running cost. It sits at energy class C with an energy efficiency index of 24.7, and at 3,343.4 kWh a year that is about £836 a year in energy at 25p/kWh. It runs at 58 dB, so plan its position with that in mind.
This is a heavy unit — 317 kg net and 400 kg gross — so factor in appropriate access and handling for delivery and siting. Electrically it runs from a standard 13 A supply at 220–240 V, and it uses natural R290 refrigerant with a 145 g charge.
