Why this sliding lid ice cream freezer earns its place
The BDF42 is a curved glass-lid display chest freezer from Blizzard, built to show frozen stock off through the lid rather than hide it away. The curved glass top means customers can see ice cream, frozen desserts and packaged frozen lines at a glance and reach in to serve themselves, which makes it an impulse-driven display piece as much as cold storage. It is the format for parlours, kiosks and shops that want frozen product on show at the point of sale.
It runs on R290, a natural hydrocarbon refrigerant with low global-warming potential, and is quiet in use at 48 dB, which suits it to customer-facing spots rather than back-of-house only. Defrost is manual, so the routine is to run the cabinet down and clear it by hand periodically rather than relying on an automatic cycle. It is rated to climate class 4 for warmer, busier ambient conditions.
At 1270 mm wide, 680 mm deep and 850 mm high it is a floor-standing chest unit that a customer can lean over comfortably. Check the 1270 mm width and 680 mm depth against doorways and the spot you intend to site it before delivery. It weighs 69 kg, so plan a two-person position on install to set it in place cleanly.
