Why this chefs knive earns its place
The Hygiplas 25cm chef's knife is the tool you reach for when you need to process volume. At 380mm long, the blade cuts a wider path through large cabbages, pumpkins, and meat joints in a single stroke, which is the real advantage of longer blades. In a busy prep kitchen, that matters: fewer strokes, less fatigue, consistent results. The stamped stainless-steel construction is robust enough for this scale of work without being brittle.
This is a knife for the main prep station, not the backup drawer. Weight sits around 0.21kg—heavy enough to move itself through dense veg with gravity assist, light enough that you're not fighting it through a day of solid chopping. The blade profile is all-purpose: broad enough for a proper rock-and-chop motion, pointed enough for fine work if you need it.
Black handle stays visually clean against most surfaces and won't mark under heavy use. And it's dishwasher safe, which in a high-output kitchen means one less thing to hand-wash during service or at close-down. It will dull faster than a premium blade, but it sharpens back to working edge easily with a steel or stone.
