Why this wine cooler earns its place
A wine cooler exists to solve one problem: the second half of the bottle. A white poured cold at the start of a meal is warm and flat by the time the table gets back to it, and no floor team has the time to walk a bottle to the fridge and back between glasses. A cooler at the table keeps the bottle where the guest can reach it and keeps it at the temperature it was ordered at. Fill it with ice and water rather than ice alone — water fills the air gaps and pulls heat out of the glass far faster than dry cubes touching the bottle at a few points.
Stainless steel is the right material for something that is wet all night. It does not corrode, it does not stain where wine runs down the neck of a bottle, and it wipes and polishes back for the next cover in seconds. It carries the cold visibly too: condensation on the outside is what tells a table the bottle is being looked after. Metal also has enough weight to stay put when a bottle is drawn out and pushed back one-handed, which is more than can be said for lighter formats.
At 21.5 cm this is a table or bar-top cooler rather than a floor-standing stand, so it needs a planned space on the cloth or the station — and a napkin or coaster underneath once the condensation starts running.
