Why this casserole dishe earns its place
This oval casserole dish from Vogue is made from cast iron and finished in red, with handles and a stainless steel knob. The 6 litre capacity makes it a far larger piece than the gratin dishes in the range, and the 230mm width, 305mm depth and 125mm height give it a substantial footprint.
The cast iron build is the key feature. Vogue describes it as having excellent heat retaining properties and even heat distribution, so it is the sort of dish buyers choose when they want weight, consistency and the feel of a proper traditional casserole.
The red finish gives it a strong presentation look, and the manufacturer says it can be used as attractive presentation. At 6.8kg it is a serious piece of kit, but that is part of the appeal for kitchens wanting a durable cast iron dish.
