Why this wine glasse earns its place
At 500ml, these Adora glasses are sized for serious wine service. Not oversized showpieces, not stingy portions—properly proportioned bowls that hold a 150ml pour with 350ml of aeration space, letting wine open fully. The 232mm height and 89mm diameter create a substantial, elegant presence on the table. This is glassware that communicates: we know wine, and we're giving it the treatment it deserves.
The ribbed embossing on the bowl does real work. Those ribs increase surface area inside the glass, which accelerates the wine's interaction with oxygen. When you pour into an Adora bowl, the wine gets more exposure to air than it would in smooth glass. That means the aromatics open faster, the tannins soften, and what you're drinking tastes more like the winemaker intended. It's applied aerating—engineered into the glass itself.
Royal Leerdam's heritage runs back to 1765. These aren't mass-market novelty glasses; they're professional stemware designed for restaurants and serious hospitality. Dishwasher-safe construction means you can run them through a commercial machine after service without concern. The glass is thick enough to feel substantial in hand but not so heavy it becomes clunky. After hundreds of pours, they'll still look like they did on day one.
