Why this dishe earns its place
These are working counter dishes, not decorative ramekins. The 2-litre capacity bridges between a serving spoon and a proper tureen. Finished in super-vitrified ceramic with a white base and indigo colour accent on the rim, they sit between plain commercial tableware and patterned restaurant china—they have presence without demanding attention.
The 194 mm width fits a standard four-top table setting with space to spare. Smaller than a 10-inch plate, they're stable on the pass and handle both hot and cold: from the oven for gratinées and individual pies, from the chill for cold starters and composed salads. Churchill built them stackable but not dense—a stack of four dishes breathes enough for hand-washing if needed, and the glaze survives repeated passes through 60+ °C dishwasher cycles without dulling.
Indigo glaze is subtle. It sits on the rim and foot, leaving the interior white—so food photographs clearly, heat marks are less visible, and the colour does its job without fussiness. A pack of four gives you a working set for one turn, or a backup for a smaller operation.
