Why this dishe earns its place
A compact square melamine serving dish from APS's Element range in grey concrete-effect. At 90 × 70mm and 30ml capacity (approximately 1 oz), it is designed for a single amuse portion, a teaspoon of flavoured oil or condiment, or a garnish on a plated course. The shallow 30mm depth and small footprint mean it does not compete for plate real estate when placed as part of a multi-course sequence.
Melamine's value here lies in durability during rapid handling. A 30ml dish on a busy pass is moved, stacked, and rinsed dozens of times during service. Unlike ceramic, melamine resists chipping from that constant motion and survives the high-temperature dishwashing cycles without concern. The glazed surface wipes clean in seconds, and the weight (0.08kg) is negligible even when handling trays of them.
The concrete-textured finish adds visual interest to a minimalist plated presentation without requiring hand-painted or bespoke ceramics. Stacking is efficient: these nest tightly, saving precious cupboard space in compact kitchens where amuse service is part of the menu.
