Why this plate earns its place
Churchill's Raku range uses traditional glazing techniques with modern back-of-house durability built in. At 186 mm, these are proper side plates—large enough for bread rolls or a cheese course, small enough not to clutter the table on a tightly set cover. Black porcelain absorbs heat evenly and hides the wear that shows on white.
Porcelain is the kitchen standard because it survives the repeated heating and chilling of a passthrough dishwasher without crazing or crazing. Stack them tight in storage, run them through cycles at temperature, and they stay sound. The Raku glaze sits deep on the surface—it's not a thin wash that chips away after six months.
