Why this plate earns its place
The 165mm plate is the smallest in a formal place setting—bread plate, salad course, or a resting place for cutlery between courses. In a busy kitchen, it's the plate you reach for sides and accompaniments. Built from super-vitrified ceramic, it stacks tight and survives a commercial dishwasher unchanged, chip-resistant through hundreds of covers. Each piece carries a hand-finished patina glaze, slightly different on every plate, adding to the overall charm rather than signalling defects.
At 165mm, the plate is compact enough to fit multiple place settings on a tight table, sturdy enough that a side of salad or a bread roll won't shift when the server moves quickly. The coupe shape is gentle—no sharp rim to catch on cutlery during clearing. Twelve per pack means you've got backups running through the wash during service.
The patina finish hides the microscopic wear that shows on plain glazes—cutlery marks, the faint scuff where the plate crossed the table, the slight dulling from detergent. Stonecast Patina mimics the tones and texture created by natural aging, fired at the kiln stage rather than applied by hand. In a kitchen where fresh stock rotates daily, that subtle variation on each piece reads as authenticity. The whole range is designed to withstand the rigours of a back-of-house hospitality environment.
