Why this plate earns its place
The 165 mm coupe is the side plate — designed to sit left of the main plate in a formal place setting or work standalone for bread, cheese, or appetizer courses. At this compact size, it's the fastest-moving plate in a commercial rotation because it's used in every cover: bread and butter, amuse-bouche, palate-cleansing sorbet, cheese course. The shallow coupe profile (6 mm) holds its own weight without looking empty and the rim is glazed and fired specifically to resist the edge chipping that kills cheaper plates after a few months of service.
Super-vitrified ceramic is the only material that tolerates the thermal shocks of a commercial dishwasher run 500+ times per year. The Blueberry tone reads neutrally under every type of food — it doesn't compete with the plate. The foot is recessed so twelve plates nest without rim contact; twelve plates stack to 189 mm, dense enough to fit a standard shelf but loose enough that they don't jam. Churchill's 5-year edge-chip warranty is specific to this size and finish, reflecting the wear pattern of side plates in high-turnover venues.
If you're scaling a restaurant or reequipping a catering kitchen, side plates are the highest turnover — order them in volume. These are built to last 4–5 years before pattern retirement, not material failure.
