Why this plate earns its place
The 316 mm plate is a deliberate step up—still short of the charger depth, but wide enough to deliver presence on a table without feeling oversized for a finished course or a composed main. Dudson's stoneware body in coupe profile gives the glaze room to breathe, so the patterned Mediterranean pattern reads as intentional surface rather than applied decoration. Each plate weighs over 1.2 kg, and that density is part of the sell: a guest feels the difference between lightweight porcelain and substantial stoneware before it hits the table.
The glazed surface is fully cured, so water doesn't penetrate. Stoneware survives thermal shock better than porcelain—a +80 °C plate plated quickly in a +20 °C kitchen won't stress the material. Stacked on a shelf, the weight and the coupe profile mean plates nest tight and stable without padding. The finish doesn't scratch or discolour across hundreds of service cycles; what starts patterned stays patterned.
Dishwasher-safe at 65 °C. This is the plate that justifies itself through durability at scale. Mid-range turnover kitchens that run sixty covers a night will see this plate last five years without replacement. The patterned glaze reads as craft, but the performance is industrial.
