Why this plate earns its place
The 205 mm plate is the dessert and light-starter standard. It takes a tart, a mousse, a light fish course, or a cheese selection without the scale of a dinner plate — the narrow rim keeps the presentation tight and the white drives focus to the food. At 8 mm thick, the porcelain body is dense enough to resist the small chips that happen when rims knock in a stack or a tray. Unglazed porcelain won't develop the crazing that temperature swings inflict on glazed ware, and it won't stain the way white earthenware does after a season of dessert service.
The plate's real advantage is on the dishwasher line. Twelve of these stack at 480 mm, so three stacks fit tight on a single shelf — critical in operations where storage space is scarce. The stack is stable; plates won't shift or nest during a high-speed wash cycle. After fifty dishwasher cycles, the rim is still sharp and the white hasn't yellowed or picked up service marks.
Porcelain is non-porous, so sweet sauces and acidic fruit don't seep in or leave stains. The narrow rim means you're buying surface, not weight — lighter to carry, easier to clear from the table, and more elegant in the hand than a broad-rimmed plate at this size.
