Why this plate earns its place
The 215mm square plate is the opening course partner in the Studio Prints Homespun range. Square format saves table space — three of these fit the length of two round plates — without looking cramped. The charcoal black porcelain carries the same V&A-archived hand-applied Homespun edge band as the larger sizes, but scaled to a starter's proportion: enough for a soup course, fish, or salad without pretending to be a dinner plate.
Square plates favour modern plating. The corners give a chef sharper angles to work with, and they read as intentional — someone has chosen them for a reason, not defaulted to round. Charcoal black glaze shows food without competing and hides the wear of daily service better than white. At 215mm, they stack tightly in the pass and storage.
Like all Studio Prints tableware, these are made from high-fired porcelain with a 5-year edge chip warranty. They'll move through a commercial dishwasher hundreds of times without crazing or dulling. The hand-applied edge band is bonded through the glaze, not a surface decoration — it won't fade or wear away.
