The job

Nisa Local, Kingskerswell — a village store outside Newton Abbot, and an away fixture for the team. Two ageing remote Arneg cabinets had to come out, be disposed of properly, and be replaced with modern multidecks — while the store kept serving customers.

No closure. No “back in 10 minutes” sign. The shop traded through the entire job.

Delivery, AM sharp. Village lanes, one road in — the team ran traffic control while the cabinets came off the lorry.
02

The challenge

Working in a live store is a different sport. Every hour, the plan has to protect three things at once: the engineers, the public, and the trading day.

Open throughout

Work areas segregated zone by zone so shoppers kept shopping and Craven’s health & safety standards held from first lift to last screw.

Village lanes

Tight roads and a big delivery. The team ran short, controlled holds to get the lorry in and out without gridlocking the village.

Out with the old

Two legacy open-fronted cabinets decommissioned, removed and disposed of responsibly — the part of the job nobody sees and everybody needs.

03

Before / after

The old condensing pack was massively oversized for a village store — costing money around the clock. In its place: right-sized J&E Hall units, matched to the store’s real load. Drag the line.

Before: the old oversized condensing pack system with aged pipework
After: clean wall-mounted right-sized J&E Hall condensing unit
Before · the old pack After · J&E Hall
The result on the electricity bill 0% lower running costs

Right-sizing isn’t glamorous — it’s just maths that never got done when the old pack went in. The new cabinets and matched condensing units cut the customer’s refrigeration energy costs by up to 65%. The kit pays for itself, then keeps paying.

The solution

Two 3.75-metre Arneg Osaka multidecks and two J&E Hall condensing units — delivered AM, installed with the attention to detail that decides how long refrigeration actually lasts, and finished the same day.

The prepared wall space inside the trading store before the new cabinets went in
Old cabinets out, wall prepped — store still open around it.
Second wall-mounted J&E Hall condensing unit installed outside
Right-sized J&E Hall units, mounted and commissioned.
The new Osaka multidecks installed under the Wine and Beers sign
Eleven metres of new multideck under Wine & Beers.
New cabinets alongside fully stocked store shelving
Same day: cabinets in, aisle trading.
Finished installation next to stocked aisles in the open store
Finished, chilled, stocked.
The customer made one phone call. Delivery, decommissioning, disposal, installation — Craven handled the rest, in one organised day on site.
