TEFCOLD’s MDCA Multidecks Bring HACCP Data to the Shop Floor

The most useful refrigeration technology is rarely the feature that looks impressive in a showroom. It is the feature that makes Monday morning easier.

TEFCOLD’s MDCA multideck range combines a variable-speed compressor with Bluetooth and NFC connectivity, allowing operators to access and export HACCP temperature data rather than depending entirely on handwritten records.

What is in the range?

The MDCA family is available in five sizes and carries EU Energy Class B. Units can be joined with a multiplexing kit to form a continuous refrigerated run, making the range relevant to convenience stores, food-to-go outlets, farm shops and larger retail projects.

Adjustable shelves include a tilting function. Vertical and horizontal LED lighting supports product visibility, while mirrored solid side panels help the display feel more open. Ticket strips and acrylic front risers are included as standard.

Bluetooth and NFC: useful or another app?

Connectivity earns its place when it removes work or improves evidence. HACCP export can help a store retrieve temperature history, investigate an incident and maintain records without decoding a clipboard of inconsistent handwriting.

It does not remove responsibility. Staff still need to respond to an alarm, load the cabinet correctly and understand what normal operation looks like. Data nobody checks is simply a more expensive form of neglect.

Why the variable-speed compressor matters

A conventional compressor repeatedly switches between running and stopping. A variable-speed system can adjust its output to match changing demand. In principle, that supports steadier operation and lower energy use when full capacity is unnecessary.

Real consumption will still depend on ambient temperature, loading, maintenance, store layout and opening patterns. Energy Class B provides a comparison point; it is not a guarantee of a particular electricity bill.

Building a continuous line

Multiplexing allows several cabinets to read as one planned merchandising run. That can create a cleaner store and make category zoning easier, but it raises the importance of accurate site measurement. Columns, sockets, drainage, doorways and the final service-access requirement must be resolved before the order.

Craven’s verdict

The MDCA is strongest where display, energy control and temperature evidence are all part of the brief. A small shop that never exports data may not use every feature. A multi-site operator or food-to-go business with formal records could find the connectivity far more valuable.

The stunt — The Lost-Temperature Drill: Ask the duty manager to retrieve yesterday’s cabinet temperature record and explain what happens after an excursion. Time the answer. If it takes twenty minutes and three clipboards, connectivity may solve a real problem.
