The job

Slice of Paradise, Mumbles — a new farm shop, and the first of its kind in the area. Craven Cooling was appointed to supply and install the full commercial refrigeration package as an older building was transformed from a bare shell into a modern retail space with the warm, traditional character of a farm shop.

The customer wanted chilled goods, frozen products and fresh produce presented clearly — without losing the independent farm-shop feel. Our team worked alongside the shopfitters and electricians throughout, managing installation, deliveries and commissioning ahead of opening.

The challenge

Mumbles is a busy, popular village — and this was an older building stripped to its shell, with several trades on site at once. Every stage had to be planned around the location, the programme and the space available.

A busy village centre

Mumbles sees heavy pedestrian traffic and congested roads. Deliveries of several large refrigeration cabinets had to be carefully organised to avoid disrupting nearby businesses and residents.

Six steps to the rear

The largest cabinet — the 3.2m Arneg Panama — needed to be carefully moved through the shop and up six internal steps at the rear before reaching its final position.

A limited plant area

Only a small amount of external space was available for three condensing units. Their positions needed to allow airflow, future service access and a tidy finish without crowding the rear yard.

The solution

The installation was planned around the wider refurbishment, working closely alongside the shopfitters and electricians. Deliveries were timed to suit the busy conditions in Mumbles, and the internal route for the larger cabinets was assessed before anything arrived.
