The job

Craven Cooling was appointed to supply and install a complete refrigeration package for Queen’s Fish Bar, 355 Grand Avenue, Cardiff — a walk-in chiller room, a walk-in freezer room and a range of specialist refrigeration and food-preparation equipment for a busy fish and chip shop.

Working to a tight programme, our team managed the equipment deliveries, installed both coldrooms and positioned the remaining equipment while builders and electricians continued with their work elsewhere on site.

The challenge

A large amount of equipment was due to arrive at the same time — the walk-in room components, specialist refrigeration cabinets, food-preparation equipment and Gastronorm pans — on a site where builders and electricians were active throughout.

Trades sharing the site

Builders and electricians were working throughout the premises, so the refrigeration installation had to be carefully coordinated around the areas they needed access to.

One big delivery day

The walk-in room components, cabinets, prep equipment and Gastronorm pans were all due on site together — arriving when the team was ready to receive them, not before.

No room to overcrowd

Every item had to be moved straight into the correct area of the developing kitchen layout, without overcrowding the site or blocking the other contractors.

03

The solution

Craven Cooling planned the installation and deliveries as one coordinated operation. All of the equipment was arranged to arrive on the same day, allowing our engineers to manage the unloading and move each item directly into the correct area of the premises.

New shop? Tight programme? Good.

Coldrooms, cabinets, prep equipment — one point of contact for the complete refrigeration package, planned around the other trades on site.
