THE WORKING VIEW

Why this commercial sink earns its place

This is proper sink furniture for working kitchens. At 1600 mm wide, 700 mm deep, and 850 mm tall, it's a right-height prep sink—waist-high so you're not bending to wash prep, and wide enough to handle serious volume without feeling cramped. It comes flat-packed, so assembly is on-site and straightforward.

The 700 mm depth is deep enough for soaking vegetables, rinsing offal, or prepping meat without splashing water across the floor. The shelf underneath provides storage for cleaning kit, prep trays, or drainage baskets—space where you actually need it, not wasted on high shelves.

Stainless-steel construction resists rust and corrosion from constant water and the acidity of food prep. It's built to live in a working kitchen where speed matters and hygiene is non-negotiable. The legs are levelled on-site, so it sits solid even on kitchen floors that aren't perfectly flat.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

The 1600 mm unit is rated for commercial-grade daily use. The shelf underneath supports prep trays and cleaning supplies. If you're planning to load it with 50 kg of ice or heavy prep equipment, check with your supplier—commercial-grade doesn't mean unlimited load, and uneven loading can cause stress.

Yes. The stainless-steel frame is designed to accept bolted-on shelving. Many kitchens add a shelf 500–600 mm above the work surface for air-drying dishes and prep kit. Measure your space and have a fabricator add the shelf, or source a compatible shelf unit.

The legs have adjustable feet—turn them in or out until the sink sits flat and doesn't rock. Use a spirit level on the rim to check. An unlevelled sink pools water in one corner and looks sloppy. Take 10 minutes to get it right.

A 1600 mm unit fits a standard two-bay sink (each bay roughly 750 mm wide). If you need three bays (left, middle, right for wash/rinse/chill), you'll need a 2000 mm or larger unit. For single-bay washing, 1600 mm is plenty.

Yes. Make sure your waste connects to a proper S-bend trap (or P-bend, depending on installation), not directly to the drain. The trap holds water and stops smells coming back up. Your plumber will size the waste for the water volume—a prep sink in a butcher's needs a bigger drain than a hand-washing station.

Very. Wipe stainless steel with a damp cloth and dry it; it won't harbour bacteria or stains. At the end of service, a rinse with hot water and a quick dry keeps it looking fresh. Deep clean with hot water, a brush, and kitchen degreaser weekly.
