Why this standpipe earns its place
A standpipe is one of those parts nobody thinks about until it fails, and this one is sized for a specific job: fitting a 70mm bowl outlet on a 300mm-deep commercial sink. At 300mm tall and 55mm in diameter, it seats into the flange at the base of the bowl and sits at the height that outlet is designed around.
The way a standpipe works is simple and reliable — water fills the bowl up to the top of the pipe, then holds there instead of draining straight away, and lifting the pipe back out empties the bowl in one go. It's the standard way commercial pot-wash and prep sinks control fill and drain, and getting the height right is what makes it work properly: too short and the bowl won't hold water, too tall and it won't seat correctly in the outlet. Matching a 300mm pipe to a 300mm-deep bowl removes that guesswork.
It's a small, light part — 0.45kg — but not a trivial one to be without, since a worn or split standpipe stops holding the fill level the sink is built around. Buying one to keep as a spare rather than waiting for the old one to fail is time well spent for anyone running a working kitchen. It's backed by a 1 year parts & labour warranty.
