THE WORKING VIEW

Why this wall shelve earns its place

A practical mid-width shelf for sections of a prep wall. At 900 mm, it suits alcoves or spans between columns without sagging, and the 300 mm depth holds standard crockery, containers, and small equipment. The rodded design gives the shelf rigidity across its span so you can rely on it to stay level even after years of use.

The 25 kg load rating is firm — do not assume you can creep over this by packing plates tightly. Weight adds up when you stack; a stack of 30 plates plus a mixing bowl can easily hit the limit. 201 stainless resists everyday cleaning and spray, but salt and acidic cleaners will mark it if left to dry on the surface. Wipe dry after cleaning to keep the finish bright.

Installation is straightforward if your wall is solid. Brick and concrete are best; stud walls need accurate stud location. The expansion screws provided work on solid surfaces; if you are unsure about your wall type, get it checked before you drill.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

It depends on how you organise. Nine 100 mm plates stacked will just fit; larger items take more space. Plan your storage before you order and you will know if you need one shelf or two.

Keep it to 20 kg if you want a safety margin. At 25 kg you are at the edge, and overload means risk of deflection and eventual bracket fatigue.

Studs are timber supports behind plasterboard, running vertically at roughly 400 mm intervals. Find them with a stud finder, drill through the plasterboard, and use the bolts that screw into the stud wood.

Yes. Salt spray will not eat through 201 stainless in normal kitchen conditions, but wipe it dry after cleaning so residue does not sit on the surface overnight.

The rod is a structural brace that runs under the shelf and connects to the brackets. It stops the shelf from bending or sagging across the span. The rod is fixed; you cannot adjust it.

Call 01792 732702. Sagging usually means the fixings have loosened or the load has exceeded 25 kg. Do not attempt to straighten the shelf yourself; it needs re-fixing or replacement.
