THE WORKING VIEW

Why this commercial kitchen shelving earns its place

This is the workhorse mid-span shelf for zones where full-wall coverage isn't needed. At 900 mm, it's ideally sized for a prep station, a dedicated storage point, or the span between two structural supports — short enough to be rigid without span-support, wide enough to do serious work. The 400 mm depth holds hotel pans, smallwares, or ingredient containers without wasting wall space or intruding on the active work area behind it.

Stainless steel 430 is the commercial standard: food-safe, corrosion-resistant, and requires only hot water and a wipe to maintain. It doesn't rust, doesn't trap bacteria, and it toughens up over time rather than degrading. The brackets are included and already factored into the weight — you're just mounting and using.

At just 1 kg, installation is straightforward. The 190 mm height gives you flexibility for stacking multiple shelves closely or spacing them wide for deeper containers. This is utilitarian metalwork: no bells, no finish surprises, just proven stainless that survives the heat and humidity of a real working kitchen.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

A single 900 mm shelf won't hold an entire kitchen's inventory — but it absolutely handles a dedicated zone: one set of smallwares, a block of prep containers, ingredient staging for a station, or clean ware awaiting use. It's about concentrating what you need where you need it, not about compromise.

Measure your space and your functional zones. 900 mm is ideal for station-level storage or a smaller wall. 1400 mm bridges a two-bay gap or a larger prep counter. 2000 mm runs wall-to-wall in most kitchens. Buy the width that fits your wall and your workflow — buy multiple shelves if you need coverage, not one oversized unit.

You can stack them as closely as the height of your stored items allows (the shelf depth itself is 190 mm). If you're cooling or aerating items, allow airflow. For dry storage, stack tightly as needed. Work with your installer on wall load-bearing capacity.

At this gauge, 430 is commercial-strong — but the real limit is your wall anchoring, not the steel. A 900 mm span on sound wall studs is stiff and reliable. For load calculations or unusual conditions, call 01792 732702 and we'll advise based on your site specifics.

The shelf and brackets arrive ready to fit. You're drilling and fastening to the wall stud or commercial wall system. Installation is straightforward for a handy person or a facilities team; many sites handle it in-house. If you need a professional, your local handyperson or kitchen-fitter can manage it in minutes.

Daily: wipe with warm soapy water. Weekly: spray with food-safe sanitiser, wipe, and dry. Avoid bleach or abrasive scourers — they can mark the surface. A monthly light polish keeps it looking fresh. That's it. Stainless doesn't rust or degrade, so once you've wiped it, the work is done.
