Why this ducting earns its place
A damper valve is the control point in your extraction ductwork — the component that lets you adjust airflow, balance zones in multi-hood systems, or shut down one branch while others run. At 400 mm diameter, this valve handles mid-to-large volume ducting from commercial hoods and cooking equipment.
The valve sits inline in your ductwork and rotates to open or close, adjusting the damper blade to restrict flow or let it run free. When you're commissioning a system with multiple extraction points — cooking line, prep prep, dishwash area — damper valves let the engineer balance airflow so every hood gets adequate capture without over-pressurising the building. It's lightweight (1 kg) and integrates into standard 400 mm ductwork routing.
Damper valves also function as isolation: close the damper, and that duct run is shut off — useful for seasonal extraction (closing off an outdoor pass-through in winter), or isolating equipment for maintenance. The valve mechanism is simple and durable; no power needed, no moving parts beyond the blade itself.
