Why this upright fridge earns its place
The Foster Xtra XR1300H steps up from the single-door XR600H to a full 1300-litre double-door cabinet, aimed at kitchens that have outgrown a single fridge but don't want the footprint or cost of a walk-in. It's the workhorse option for busy restaurant kitchens, hotel back-of-house, and contract caterers who need one cabinet to cover the bulk of daily chilled storage rather than juggling several smaller units.
Net volume runs to 881 litres across three adjustable 2/1 gastronorm shelves per compartment, with fan-assisted cooling keeping temperature even through +2 to +8°C regardless of how full the shelves are. Energy consumption is rated at 1626.8 kWh a year — Energy Class E with an EEI of 79.13% — which is the trade-off for the extra volume and a 4457W input power draw; it's a bigger fridge doing a bigger job, and the running cost reflects that. Climate Class 5 rating means it's built to hold its range in busier, warmer kitchen environments rather than a controlled test room.
Construction is stainless steel exterior with an aluminium interior, finished to the same easy-clean standard as the rest of the Xtra range, with a removable door gasket that lifts out for proper cleaning rather than harbouring bacteria in a fixed channel. Both doors are lockable — useful for stock security in shared kitchens or late-opening venues — and hinged for a standard swing rather than sliding format. Refrigerant is R290, defrost is fully automatic, and Foster backs the XR1300H with 2 years parts and labour warranty as standard.
