Why this walk-in freezer earns its place
The Tefcold CRNF2730 is a walk-in freezer room for kitchens that need bulk frozen storage in one place rather than a bank of upright freezers. It arrives as a modular system with the refrigeration built in, giving 2460 × 2760 × 1960 mm of internal space to hold meat, fish, catering packs and prepped batches at a steady frozen temperature. It is the format back-of-house operations reach for when floor freezers stop keeping up with volume.
In use it holds -20 to -10 °C, cold enough for long-term frozen storage. Defrost is automatic and uses hot gas, so ice is cleared without manual intervention or a break in the cold chain, and an electronic controller manages the temperature. The system runs on R290, a natural hydrocarbon refrigerant with low environmental impact, and operating noise is rated at 60 dB. At the rated energy use, electricity works out at about £2900 a year at 25p/kWh.
Internally the room measures 2460 × 2760 × 1960 mm (W×D×H), and the single hinged solid door gives a 700 mm wide by 1765 mm high clear opening for loading trolleys and stacked stock. It runs from a 13A supply at 220-240V/50Hz and draws 1630W, with a 200g R290 charge — no three-phase connection needed. Gross weight is 845 kg (815 kg net), so floor loading and delivery access are worth checking before install.
