Why this freezer room earns its place
The DS486-FGY is an integral walk-in freezer room from the Polar U-Series, finished in grey, with a 1.8 × 2.1 metre footprint that holds 6,490 litres of frozen stock. It does the job a row of chest freezers cannot: bulk frozen storage in a temperature-controlled space you can walk straight into, holding meat, prepped batches and frozen deliveries at −15 to −18 °C in one accessible room rather than scattered across the kitchen floor.
In daily use it works as a self-contained frozen store. Walk-in access and 1.88 metres of internal height means trolleys, racking and shelving go in and out without lifting stock over chest lids, so a busy kitchen can rotate frozen stock and load deliveries quickly rather than filling scattered cabinets. The insulated 80 mm panels and fan-assist cooling cycle automatically to hold the frozen temperature steady.
Because the refrigeration is integral, there is no remote condenser to house and no separate plant room to find or maintain — the room carries its own cooling from a single 230V supply drawing 1,800 W. It is built to a set external footprint (2.2 × 1.8 × 2.1 metres externally, 435 kg), so plan the position, access route and power supply from the spec panel, and it ships backed by a manufacturer 2-year parts-and-labour warranty.
