Why this freezer room earns its place
The Polar U-Series DS485-FGY is an integral walk-in freezer room built for bulk frozen storage behind the pass. It gives a kitchen a dedicated, walk-in space to hold frozen deliveries, batch-prepped stock and reserves that would otherwise crowd upright freezers, all inside a 1.8 x 1.8m floor plan with 5487 litres of gross volume and listed internal dimensions of 2037 x 1580 x 1580 mm.
Integral means the condensing unit is built into the room itself. There is no remote condenser to find space for and no refrigeration pipework to run across the building. The room holds a -15 to -18 °C frozen band using fan-assisted cooling, with an R449A refrigerant charge, 230V supply and 1800 W rated input.
It is constructed from galvanised steel, aluminium and plastic with 80 mm insulation and one hinged door. At 400 kg gross weight, it needs a planned route, level floor and service clearance, especially if back-of-house access is tight. The manufacturer states the room is designed to work in 43 °C ambient conditions and supplies it with an internal light, 13amp plug, two-year parts-and-labour warranty and five-year panel guarantee.
