THE WORKING VIEW

Why this positive monoblock earns its place

The Positive Split Unit 7480.0015 is the refrigeration plant that turns a panel-built walk-in into a working chiller room. "Positive" means it runs at above-zero chill duty (+0 to +5 °C) for fresh and prepped stock rather than a freezer room, and "split" means the indoor evaporator and the outdoor condensing unit are separate, linked by pipework.

The split configuration keeps the heat-rejecting condenser out of the chilled space — sited outside or in a plant area — while the evaporator sits inside the room. It is matched to a span of cold-room volumes, shown in the model name and the spec panel, so it suits small-to-mid walk-ins. It runs on 230V single-phase supply at 1.5 kW, using R 449 A refrigerant with automatic defrost to keep the room ice-free and the maintenance straightforward.

A split unit is a fitted installation, not a plug-in appliance: it needs the pipework run between the indoor and outdoor sections and proper commissioning before it holds temperature. The condensing unit itself is compact — 746 × 482 × 486 mm, weighing 78 kg — and can be discretely positioned away from the kitchen. Questions, answered straight

It is the refrigeration plant for a chilled walk-in cold room. "Positive" means above-zero chill duty; "split" means the indoor evaporator and outdoor condensing unit are separate, linked by pipework.

A positive unit is for above-zero cold rooms — chilled storage at +0 to +5 °C, not frozen. For a freezer room you would need a negative-temperature unit. The chill operating band is listed in the spec panel.

It is matched to a span of cold-room volumes, shown in the model name and the spec panel. Our cold room sizing calculator matches your stock volume to the right room and plant.

A split unit separates the condenser from the evaporator, linked by pipework, so the condenser and its heat sit away from the room. A monoblock houses both parts in a single through-wall block.

No. A split unit needs pipework between the indoor and outdoor sections and proper commissioning. Craven Cooling install and commission cold-room plant — call our service team on 01792 732702 to arrange it.

Running cost depends on the room, the load and your tariff, so we cannot quote a figure here. Our breakdown cost calculator also shows what an unplanned cold-room failure costs, which is where planned servicing pays off.
