Why this supermarket freezer earns its place
The Tefcold ST701 is a white hinged glass-lid chest freezer that shows frozen stock through the top while keeping it sealed, so customers can see the product without a member of staff opening it. With 670 litres of gross capacity and 620 litres of usable net volume, it suits impulse frozen lines at the end of an aisle or by the till.
It holds product at -24 to -14 °C with static cooling and a mechanical controller, a simple set-up with few electronics to fail, and it is rated climate class 4. Defrost is manual, so budget for a periodic clear-out, and at a measured 45 dB it is quiet on a shop floor. Rated energy class D with a 48.6% efficiency index, it uses 1,335.9 kWh a year — about £334 to run at 25p/kWh.
The freezer measures 2055 × 720 × 920 mm (W×D×H) externally and ships packed at 2145 × 750 × 1000 mm, so check doorway width along the delivery route. It runs on a standard 220–240 V 13-amp supply drawing 292 W, uses natural R290 refrigerant with a 125 g charge, and weighs 109 kg gross, making it lighter to position than an upright.
