Why this sliding lid ice cream freezer earns its place
The Tefcold NIC302SCEB is a sliding-lid ice cream display freezer with 286 litres of gross volume in a white finish. It is built to show frozen product to the customer while holding it at serving temperature, suiting scoop tubs or pre-packed lines on a parlour, kiosk or shop counter.
It holds -24 to -14 °C on R290 refrigerant, cold enough for scooping ice cream and storing frozen stock, and uses a mechanical controller with manual defrost. It carries a class D energy rating with an energy efficiency index of 43%, and at a rated 655.2 kWh a year that is about £164 a year at 25p/kWh. At 45 dB it is quiet enough for a front-of-house counter, and it is rated climate class 5. Cooling uses an 85 g charge of R290 refrigerant.
It runs from a standard 13 A supply, so it plugs into a normal socket without dedicated electrics. The cabinet has a white exterior and a white painted steel interior. Manual defrost means setting aside time to defrost the freezer periodically rather than relying on an automatic cycle.
