Why this sliding lid ice cream freezer earns its place
The TEFCOLD IC501SCEB is a glass-lid display chest freezer built to sell frozen stock, not just store it. The curved sliding glass lid gives customers a clear view down into 398 litres of net capacity — ice cream tubs, wrapped novelties, frozen pre-pack — while the white cabinet sits neatly in a shop floor or serving area.
It runs at -24 to -14 °C, cold enough for ice cream and frozen goods, using static cooling with a mechanical controller. Defrost is manual, so you will schedule a periodic switch-off and clear-out rather than rely on an automatic cycle. At 45 dB it is quiet enough for a customer-facing spot, and climate class 5 rates it to hold temperature in warm ambient conditions — useful for a summer kiosk or a hot shop floor.
The freezer measures 1550 × 615 × 949 mm externally and needs a standard 13 A supply on 220–240 V. At 85 kg gross it is manageable for two people to position. It uses R290 hydrocarbon refrigerant with a 110 g charge; gross volume is 427 litres, 398 litres net. Running cost works out at about £232 a year at 25p/kWh.
