Why this preserve jar earns its place
This 500ml jar is a workhorse for any kitchen working in portions. It's the right size for a batch of vinaigrette that needs to last the week, a container of house pesto you're parcelling out, or ready-made components—beurre blanc, coulis, gastrique—that go into multiple dishes. At 105 mm tall and 89 mm diameter, it's compact enough to fit easily into a crowded fridge shelf or walk-in, but substantial enough to feel purposeful in your hand.
The seal works exactly like the larger jars: a rubber ring sits in a groove, and the clip mechanism compresses it to form a genuine airtight seal. No air in, no air out. Once sealed, the contents stay fresher longer than in an open bowl or loose-topped container. Clear glass means you see exactly what you've got without opening it—essential when you're working through prep lists quickly.
Because it's freezer-safe, you can freeze a portion of sauce or stock directly into it; just cool it to room temperature first. The seal holds tight through the freeze cycle. And when (after three or four years of heavy use) the rubber ring hardens, spare seals are available separately—you're not buying a new jar every time you need a fresh ring.
