Why this tray earns its place
The Maham Spice collection is designed by tableware specialist Maham Anjum and represents the intersection of culinary theatre and honest kitchenware. At 75mm diameter and 57ml capacity, this is the smallest in the range—sized for one delicate gesture. The trays are vitrified stoneware with an unglazed exterior (that warm, earthy terracotta aesthetic) and a coloured reactive glaze inside that rewards close attention. At this size, presentation is the whole point.
This is the tray for the one-spoon course, a single quenelle, a deconstructed garnish, or anything that needs to be a visual pause rather than a meal. In haute cuisine and tasting menus, this size is essential—it forces discipline on plating and signals that each element has been considered individually. Hotels use this when they want guests to remember the care and precision, not just the food. The hand-thrown aesthetic, even at miniature scale, reads like craft, not catering.
Vitrified stoneware means it's durable despite its delicate appearance. It stacks safely, survives commercial dishwashers without damage, and won't chip easily because the rim is proportioned and robust. The unglazed exterior will age naturally, developing subtle colour shifts that enhance, not diminish, the piece. Small doesn't mean fragile.
