Why this table top earns its place
Outdoor seating is where ashtrays get destroyed. They are knocked off tables, stacked into tubs, carried six at a time and dropped onto stone, decking and tarmac. This Arena ashtray is melamine and shatterproof, so a fall ends with a bounce rather than a sweep-up and a table taken out of service. At 10 cm it takes up little of a small pavement table, and the classic shape means guests recognise what it is without being told.
Melamine also changes how it gets cleaned. Because it is dishwasher safe, a full round of ashtrays goes through the same passthrough cycle as the glasses at the end of a session rather than being wiped by hand at the table. The black finish is the practical choice for the job — ash and tar mark a pale surface within a shift, and black keeps looking presentable between washes. Keep a stack on the outside station so staff can swap a dirty one for a clean one as they clear, which is faster than emptying at the table and far tidier in front of guests.
