THE WORKING VIEW

Why this thermometer earns its place

Undercooked roast is a food safety issue. Overcooked roast is a waste. A proper meat thermometer splits the difference, letting you cook with confidence instead of guesswork. This Hygiplas roast meat thermometer does exactly that: stainless steel probe, easy-to-read dial, straightforward.

At 123 mm long, it's long enough to reach the thickest part of a joint without burning your hand. The silver finish is professional and the dial is large and clear — you read it under kitchen lights, not squint over it. No batteries, no calibration, just insert and trust the reading.

Roasts, joints, thickly-cut steaks, poultry — any meat where you need to verify internal temperature without cutting in and losing juice. The probe pierces cleanly and the dial locks the temperature so you can pull it out and check while prepping the next course.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

This thermometer just shows you the reading — food-safety guidelines vary by meat type and thickness. For poultry, typically 75°C internal is the benchmark. Lamb and beef are lower; check your local food-safety guidance or ask us on 01792 732702 for a quick reference.

Wipe the probe under warm water immediately after use. The dial body shouldn't be immersed — keep it dry. Stainless steel resists corrosion, but rinsing as you go is good practice.

Stainless steel is tough, but the point can bend if you force it into bone or drop it hard. Treat it with normal care. At this price point, it's practical and replaceable.

Most analogue meat thermometers aren't designed for oven use — they can lose accuracy in sustained heat. Use it for spot checks, not as an in-roast monitor. If you need continuous oven thermometry, ask about specialised oven thermometers.

Standard meat thermometers typically read 0–100°C or similar. Check the dial face — that's your working range. Meat readings sit comfortably within that.

Make sure you're inserting it to the centre of the meat, away from bone (which conducts heat differently). The deepest, slowest-cooking part is your true reference. If readings vary wildly, the thermometer may be damaged — call us on 01792 732702.
