Why this board earns its place
Slate brings something different to the table: raw, organic, a material that feels modern and rustic at once. Black slate 300×300 mm square, substantial at 1.2 kg per board. Use them flat as a platter for cold presentations—sashimi, oysters, cured fish, cheese—where the dark surface makes the food pop without competing for attention. Or stand them as risers within a tiered display, creating height and depth for a buffet setup that feels intentional.
The square format is geometrically balanced, which makes it work equally well as a solo platform or grouped in pairs or sets. At 300 mm, it's generous enough for a proper presentation but not oversized for a café counter or fine-dining plating. Slate is cool to the touch and stays that way—which is why it's the format of choice for chilled and raw foods. There's something about the material itself that says "this matters" without needing more.
The raw surface is unpolished and unsealed, which is where its character comes from. Visible grain, slight texture, honest material. Hand-wash after each service; don't soak for extended periods. The surface won't stain easily, but respect it and it'll perform for years. A pack of five lets you build a coordinated display that reads as a complete, considered setup rather than a collection of random pieces.
