Why this serving bucket earns its place
This is a 550 ml round serving bucket — a portion of fries, a few wings, onion rings or a dressed side. The reason for putting a side in a bucket rather than straight on the plate is separation: the main course keeps its own space, oil and dressing stay in one place, and a table shares from the middle without anyone passing plates about.
The antique black finish is doing more than styling. Fried, floured and golden food has almost no contrast against bright metal, and a dark vessel puts it back — the food becomes the lightest thing on the table, which is where a diner's eye goes first and where a phone camera meters. A dark finish also carries a service better than a mirror surface, which shows every fingerprint picked up between the pass and the table.
The shape is deep for its width: 11 cm across, 8 cm high, so chips stand upright rather than collapsing flat, and the footprint is about a side plate's worth of table. The body is stainless steel, so a knock off a tray leaves a dent rather than a broken piece. It is not dishwasher safe — hot soapy water, a soft cloth and dried straight away.
