Why this tong earns its place
The Vollrath Versagrip is a workhorse — a single solid piece of stainless steel that resists the wear a catering kitchen inflicts on everyday kit. Built springless, there's no mechanism to jam with food or come loose under pressure. The flat grip ends have teeth that bite; you pick up what you need without fumbling or drop-offs mid-service.
It handles temperatures up to 176°C, so it works equally at the range for plating hot items and at the pass for cold setup. The 406mm length gives you reach without sacrificing control — far enough to get into deep pans, short enough to use comfortably one-handed when you need to. The whole thing goes in the dishwasher; the stainless finish survives the cycle and won't rust or pit.
The Kool-Touch handle is the clever bit. It stays cool to the touch up to 82°C (and is colour-safe to 107°C if you're managing your HACCP colour coding), so you're not constantly adjusting your grip or swapping hands. That matters when you're running service; tired hands make mistakes. The black finish has a purpose too — it's a quick visual check for your hygiene system, and it helps with stock rotation.
