Why this sugar tong earns its place
Sugar tongs exist to keep fingers out of the bowl, and that is a hygiene job before it is a presentation one. At 115 mm the D9322 is short enough to sit in or beside a bowl without dominating the setting, and long enough to reach the bottom of one that has run down. It is made in one piece — a single length of steel folded into a spring rather than two arms on a pivot — so there is no joint to work loose, seize up or pack with sugar dust after a few hundred services.
18/0 is the working grade for lighter tableware: hard-wearing and made for the quantities a floor gets through and loses, though without the nickel content that gives 18/10 its longer resistance to spotting and pitting. The mirror polish is the part the customer actually sees, and a bright finish beside a white cup reads as a properly kept table. It is also the finish that shows water marks first, so these are worth drying off after a wash rather than being left to air on a rack.
