Why this scoop earns its place
A bar scoop earns its place by doing one job at speed, over and over: filling a glass, a jug or a container with ice while drinks are still being called. This one is moulded in clear polycarbonate and holds 170 ml, so every scoop is a known quantity rather than a judgement call — which matters when the person building the drink changes with the shift.
Polycarbonate is the default behind a bar for two practical reasons. It does not chip the way glass does, so nothing can break off unseen into an ice well, and it does not draw the cold out of your hand the way bare metal does when it lives in the ice for a full session. The clear body earns its keep as well: you can see straight away whether there is melt water, residue or a stray garnish in the bowl before it goes back into the bin.
Away from the bar the same 170 ml measure is useful anywhere dry stock gets portioned rather than weighed — sugar, rice, ground coffee, dry mixes. Once a team knows what one scoop looks like, batching gets faster and portions stop drifting between one cook and the next.
