Why this label earns its place
Thursday prep tends to be prep for something else: the Friday push, a weekend function, the batch that has to hold. Anything made to be used later needs to say when it was made, and it needs to say it in a form a different person on a different shift can act on. A printed day and a colour, with the date written underneath, does exactly that.
The square is 19 × 19 mm, small enough to sit on a lid, a bag or a wrapped tray without hiding the contents, and big enough that a hand-written date is still legible after a couple of days in the cold. The adhesive is permanent. Pressed down on a clean, dry surface it stays put through condensation, stacking, and being pushed to the back of a shelf and dragged out again. It will not come off neatly afterwards, so keep them on containers, film and wrap.
