THE WORKING VIEW

Why this stacking ring earns its place

This ring works with the Vogue aluminium plate cover (E893) to create a complete cover-and-ring assembly. At 200 mm diameter and 50 mm tall, the ring matches the cover's dimensions exactly. In operation, the ring sits on the hot plate with the cover on top; during service, you remove the cover and leave the ring in place, which helps contain sauce or juices and provides visual framing for the plating. After service, the ring stacks neatly in storage or prep areas, and you stack them tall because they're just 70 grams each.

The real benefit is efficiency. Rather than managing loose covers (which shift around during service), the ring gives you a stable assembly that feels intentional and organised. For high-volume plating — banquets, tasting menus, events with dozens of covers — having pre-assembled ring-and-cover stacks ready at the pass eliminates the fumbling that happens when covers and plates are separate. Servers work faster when everything is where it should be.

Aluminium is light, forgiving, and quick to heat and cool. A set of rings stores compactly: ten rings in a stack take up almost no space. For working kitchens, that's freedom.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

You can use the ring alone (as a frame and juice containment on the plate) or the cover alone (for heat retention without a ring). But they're designed to work as a pair, so you get the most benefit stocking both. The ring is 70 grams; the cover is 140 grams, so the pair is modest weight.

The ring sits on the hot plate and contains juices or sauce, preventing them from running across the plate. Visually, it frames the plating and reads as deliberate. After you remove the cover at table, the ring stays in place and finishes the presentation.

You can, yes — aluminium cools quickly — but it's safer to let them cool slightly before stacking high. A stack of ten warm rings is manageable; a stack of fifteen is getting unwieldy.

The ring alone doesn't provide heat retention; it's a plating frame and juice containment. The cover provides thermal efficiency to keep food warm. For heat retention, buy the cover. For organisation and visual framing, the ring is lighter and cheaper.

Yes, exactly. The ring is 200 mm diameter, the cover is 200 mm diameter — they're a matched set. The cover sits on top of the ring with no gap.

That depends on your plating tempo. For a 40-cover tasting menu, you'd want at least 40 rings ready (so none are still cooling whilst you're plating). Most venues stock rings in multiples of 10 or 20 for flexibility.
