THE WORKING VIEW

Why this riser earns its place

Buffets live or die on visual rhythm. A flat surface, no matter how beautiful, reads as static. These simple beech-wood height adjusters — 60mm tall, engineered to sit flat and stable under a board — solve that problem with elegance. Slip one under a Comas slate board or riser and you lift your presentation 60mm; add two, and you've created a subtle step. They're the lightweight tool that turns a line of platters into a composed, tiered display that draws the eye.

Crafted from solid beech wood, they're naturally sturdy and light enough to move between service setups without fuss. The subtle grain means they age beautifully and don't look institutional. They work interchangeably with all Comas boards and risers — the whole system is designed to nest together without gaps or wobble. At 60×2×189mm, they're thin enough to disappear visually when placed side-by-side, so the focus stays on the food above.

Four per pack gives you enough to build a properly tiered display: place two under one board to get 120mm height, one under another to get 60mm, and leave a third flat. You're not limited to a single riser per board — stack them (they'll support the weight) if your platters are light enough, or use multiple risers spaced across the board if you're displaying heavier items. The flexibility is the point.

BEFORE YOU BUY

Questions, answered straight

Beech wood is dense and strong — these will easily support a fully laden slate board (a 530mm board with charcuterie, cheese, bread can weigh 3–4kg). The only limit is practical: if a platter is so heavy it's difficult to move, use multiple risers distributed across the board rather than stacking adjusters.

Yes, absolutely. Stack two and you get 120mm of lift; three gives you 180mm. As long as your board is stable and not tipping, there's no built-in limit. Most caterers use single risers for subtlety, but doubling up is common in high-drama presentations.

They work with any board roughly in the Comas range (325mm upwards). If you have bespoke or very heavy boards, test stability before committing — a wide, heavy board on a thin 60mm support can tip if not balanced carefully.

They're part of the full Comas buffet system and pair seamlessly with Comas slate boards and risers. You can buy them standalone and integrate them into an existing buffet setup, but they're designed as part of a coordinated package. If you're building a full tiered display from scratch, buying risers and boards together makes sense.

Wipe with a damp cloth and air-dry; don't soak or put in the dishwasher. They stack flat and take almost no storage space. Keep them dry and they'll look fresh for years.

Beech is warm to the touch, ages gracefully, and reads as craft rather than utility. Plastic can look cheap; metal conducts heat and can be noisy. Beech sits the food above it beautifully and blends with the Comas aesthetic without drawing attention away from the platters.
