Why this display stand earns its place
Black is what you choose when you want the food to be the only thing anyone looks at. A dark stand recedes behind whatever is sitting on it, so pale pastries, an iced cake or a brightly wrapped retail line read sharply instead of competing with the timber underneath. This one is oak, four tiers, 770 mm from counter to top — enough lift to bring the upper levels to standing eye height, which is where a display starts earning its space rather than being something customers have to look down into.
Four stepped levels also fix the problem a flat counter creates: the front row hides the back row. Each tier clears the one below, so a customer takes in the full selection in one pass and staff can restock a level without unloading the rest. The base is 212 mm square, a small enough claim on the counter to justify itself in a tight café or at the end of a bar. Oak wants looking after like furniture rather than kitchen kit — a damp cloth and a dry-off between services, no standing water, and food kept on plates, boards or liners rather than on the bare timber.
