Why this product earns its place
Vogue's polycarbonate gastronorm containers have become a kitchen staple for good reason: the material is virtually unbreakable, stays cool to the touch even when the contents are piping hot, and shrugs off the daily abuse of a commercial kitchen without chipping or cracking. The U462 gives you a 1/3 GN footprint — 325 mm by 176 mm — with a 65 mm depth that holds 2.5 litres, ideal for shallower mise en place, sauces, dressings, or portioned proteins during a busy service.
The temperature range is genuinely impressive: –40 °C to 100 °C means the same pan moves from blast freezer to combi oven to bain-marie without a second thought. Polycarbonate's low thermal conductivity keeps the exterior comfortable to handle, so chefs can pull a hot pan from the oven bare-handed in a pinch. Lids (sold separately) lock on tight for transport and stack securely, and the pans are designed to drip-dry quickly after a dishwasher cycle — no pooling water, no water marks.
At just 0.3 kg empty, the U462 is light enough to manoeuvre one-handed even when full, and the smooth interior releases food cleanly with minimal waste. The black colour hides stains from tomato-based sauces and curries better than clear or white polycarbonate, keeping presentation sharp through hundreds of cycles. For kitchens running GN 1/3 rails across prep, cook, and serve stations, this is the workhorse size that bridges all three.
