Why this hi ball earns its place
The Islande hi-ball is the workhorse glass for any bar serving spirits and long drinks. At 310ml and 164mm tall, it's sized for a standard spirit measure (25–50ml) plus mixer, ice, and a lemon slice. The straight sides and balanced weight make it easy to stack, grab, and set down quickly during service.
What makes it practical is the material: fully toughened glass. Unlike stemware, this glass is heat-treated for impact resistance, which means it can handle the rough handling a busy bar inflicts — being stacked hurriedly, knocked over, run through commercial glasswashers repeatedly, and chilled rapidly. At just 0.24kg per unit, it's light enough for staff to carry multiple drinks without fatigue, but strong enough to survive the drops and bumps that would crack an ordinary glass.
The clear, straight profile works for any drink. It's the glass for gin and tonic, whisky and soda, rum and coke, or just iced water. The 59mm diameter fits standard bar ice scoops, and the straight sides prevent ice from jamming when you refill. Glasswasher safe, stackable, and durable enough to work for years of daily service.
