Why this tumbler earns its place
The Arcoroc Nonic is a scaled-down beer glass that works hard in busy pubs and bars. At 285ml, it's smaller than a pint but still substantial — perfect for serving bottled and draft beers where you want to showcase the colour and head without oversizing the pour. The high, straight profile lets light pass through the beer so customers can actually see the colour difference between a light lager and a dark stout or porter.
What makes the Nonic special is the design innovation around the rim. The slightly raised ridges around the rim serve two purposes: they stop the glass from sticking to other glasses when stacked on the shelf, and they improve grip in the hand without being noticeable to the drinker. In a busy bar where you're pulling dozens of glasses off the shelf per shift, that non-stick feature saves time and frustration.
The glass itself is fully tempered — which means it's heat-treated to be significantly more durable than standard glass. Tempered glass resists impacts, survives sudden temperature changes (like a hot rinse followed by an ice-cold beer), and when it does eventually break, it fragments into small harmless cubes rather than sharp shards. That's a genuine safety advantage on a busy bar floor, and it's a feature worth paying for.
