Why this plate earns its place
The 165 mm plate is the smallest in Churchill's Raku set, designed for side courses and bread plates. At 165 mm, it's compact enough to fit on a table set without crowding the space around the main plate and glasses, yet large enough to hold a proper side portion or a basket of bread rolls. The round coupe shape sits stably on any surface and stacks securely without wobble.
Raku is a traditional high-fire porcelain glaze, hand-dipped so each piece has natural colour variation. The Jade Green is a soft, muted green that sits comfortably across most house styles — contemporary without being trendy, and it lets the food be the focus. Porcelain is the material standard in commercial kitchens: it's chip-resistant at edges (the wear point where it fails predictably rather than shattering), glaze doesn't absorb food residue, and it handles dishwasher cycles indefinitely. Churchill covers edge chips for 5 years — a guarantee that acknowledges porcelain's limits and their commitment to durability.
For fine-dining venues, the 165 mm plate sits alongside the dinner plate, bread knife on top. For casual restaurants and cafés, it serves as a side plate for fries, coleslaw, or salad accompaniments. For banqueting and function suites, smaller plates mean more efficient tablescaping and quicker reset cycles.
